    Waiting...

So... This is my weekend off from work. Kenneth (My youngest one) is supposed to be here around 3 PM. Waiting for the doorbell to ring. Heh. I got Coke in the fridge, snacks in the cupboard to spoil him to death. Most of all I like him just being here. Oh well. Guess things are going to be easy.

He coming to me. Allways a good thing.

    Easy dinner

Dinner. Something we all have to go through. Fried rice we had tonight. Just put some oil in a hot wok, toss in two or three eggs, add salt and pepper, and give it a stirr. Add in the vegetables. *tip* Use some deep frozen soup vegetables here and add them to the wok, keep stirring all the time, add some diced ham, some garlic, and half a cup of finely chopped red unions. Keep stirring keep stirring.. Add some freshly chopped ginger. Toss it around for a while and then add in about two finely chopped green unions.

At this point you want to put in the cold rice you coocked the night before. Personally I like the Penang rice, long grain and I want it to be as cold and as dry as possible. Then add one tablespoon of black soy sace and two tablespoons of fish sauce. That the little secret.

Keep stirring keep stirring.. this is hard work. Add some sambal, to taste (I like it HOT). Toss it around some more and be sure to have some sliced cucumber as some sort of side dish. That tends to cool down things a bit. Now dig in after you put in the last of the chopped green union as a garnish. If you want sprinkle a little bit of deep fried unions over your meal and you are ready to go!

Whatever you do... Keep things moving around. Stirr fry is what it is. Work things.. :-)

    Jinxed myself?

On august 20th 2008 I entered my last blog on here, wondering about why 'everyone' was leaving spaces, wondering if it was a girls thing. It's september 24th 2008 now and I am posting my first blog in a month. Guess I kinda jinxed myself with that. :-) I mean. Work work work and then a major computer crash. Happy to be back on here tho. I bought myself a new computer and (lucky me) I have made backups of the important things.

Like Arnold would put it 'I'll be back'... Guess what? I am back. *thinking* Ok.. so I need to set up the webcam, get all my mp3 files back to my harddrive, have to organize all my piccies again. I'm gonna be busy again! Hah!

    Have a great day, yall.

    My weekend.

Tongue in cheeck <- Note this...

It's going to be one of my usual weekends I think. I'm just going to be lazy, lay on the couch the whole day, eating Doritos and a salsa dip. I'm *not* going to shave or take a shower and just be lazy. Maybe I'll even go as far to watch some sports on tv? Beach vollyball or something, I'll see.  Uhm maybe.. maybe.. maybe I try to wash some underwear and socks? I don't know, I think I need some guidance. LOL. Just blabbering here to let you know I wish all of you a great weekend....

    Deja vu for Liz.. Lmao

Have a great weekend you all...

    Emotions

The 2008 Olympics in Beijing China. It's got to be the biggest sport event this year. Early mornings (because of the time difference) i am trying to watch some of the main events on tv before i head to work. And I don't know if it's because how the commentators on tv describe what's going on, but what I see in those images could best bescribe as total, it is all out and no restricted euphoria.

Just think about it. Training *at least* for four years you get your moment of glory, putting everything aside for that, neglecting your social life, your family, yourself for this one moment. And there you are, 18.000 people cheering for you.. and this.. this is your moment. Failure is NO option. Then.. you succeed. Gold, first prize. Just how hard would it be to not just go crazy and show to the world you succeeded in reaching your goal.

Pierre de Coubertin, (The founder of the modern Olympics) wanted it to be that way, I think. A all out *Thank God* moment.

    Just a special date...

August 11th. Uhm that's something mixed up. Happy and sad. You know what? My eldest son Vincent is turning 22 now and it has been 2 years Janice died. I guess i took a day off from work to get things in order in my mind. I guess it worked!

Have a great one Y'all.. Thanks Julie for pointing that out.. lol.

    Time sure goes fast

I was reading some of my blogs and I saw they were going all the way back to July 22nd 2007.

Wow, time sure goes fast. I have been on and off the internet since... Uhm 1923? :-) Oh well it's never to late to meet new friends or say hi to ones from the past. This remark is just soo laying on the tip of my tongue? :-)

    K. One more working day and then I'll be off from the weekend. Looking foreward to that. Heh.

Have a great one you all!

    Mickey$oft Vista

I don't know. Not only Windows Vista, but also Windows XP, Windows 98 and Windows 95 ask me the same question when I want to delete files. 'Are you sure you want to move This-and-that file to the recycle bin?' I'm thinking.. 'No, dear Windows, I choosed to delete the file because actually I want to keep it and want this file to keep occupying space on my harddrive...'.

I don't know.. That's like driving a car and when you drive up to a crossroad and you decide to steer left, the car suddenly stops and a voice from out of nowhere starts asking you 'Are you sure you want to steer left? Click yes to go left, click ignore to continue straight ahead and click no to turn right...'. I want to be boss over my computer, darnit! Smile

Just a little (not to be taken to seriously) rant. Have a great one today!

    Passwords....

Guess we have all accounts on (and thus passwords) for Yahoo, Spaces, GMail, Sourceforge, Youtube, Facebook, Hyves, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo messenger, and probably a million other sites, forums and the like. How to keep track of all this passwords? I keep them all in a encrypted file on disk and on several email accounts - also encrypted - in case I forget. :-)

One password fits all.. When my kids went on the internet and the need for a free web-based email account was in order I made them their first Hotmail (called Live Mail now) accounts. Offering a huge 250Mb mailbox size at that time. So we got to the issue of choosing a password for those accounts. My youngest one yelled 'Pokemon'. I told him 'Nah.. that's to obvious, lets choose 'secret' as your pasword' (I bet they got that changed by now.. lol..). He sat there, thinking for a while and told me.. 'why'. I told him 'Well when someone asks you to give your password to them just say it's 'secret', you won't be lying and noone would get it' Worked for them :-)

    Just sharing...

    Four eyes... ;-)

Hmmm.. guess those are the first signs of getting a wee bit older?

Today at work - after I dropped my cell phone on the floor and it just exploded, leaving the battery under my desk, the cover right next to it and the touch pad way to the east... - Maarten (our benjamin at work) presented me this printout from an Excel sheet, showing things to do at this project I've been working for since October 2007. Things to do. I swear... It was printed out in the smallest fontsize, just to put it all on one page.

I couldn't read it. I tried focussing on that document, using my arms to bring it closer or further from my eyes to get things focussed. I guess my arms are to short for reading small print. Just to let you know. ;-)

    Have a great weekend, all...

    Nicknames

Guess we all have one. A nickname. A name we go by on the internet. Some people use their real names and I've seen some like 26y4me and BlisterOnMyFeet. People have great imagination when it comes to choosing nicknames, and I'm interested if there's a story or a reason why you choosed yours. Ok... me first. I picked the internet nickname 'biertjuh' back in 1999. That nick consists of the first 4 letters of my sir name (bier) and the post-fix 'tjuh'. The 'tjuh' part stands for 'little' pronounced in slang The Hague language. Then back in 2000 the Dutch Heineken Brewery company made a series of commercials for Dutch national televison where the expression 'biertjuh' stands for 'do you want to have a beer' [Here is an example] So since that time my nick has always been associated with beer. Beer is ok, but I like a chilled white wine better. ;-)

So.. What's the story behind *your* nickname? Just being curious here.

    Tag.. you're it...

Each person posts the rules before their lists, then lists 8 things about themselves.

At the end of the post, that person tags and links to 8 other persons and then visits their spaces and comments letting them know that they have been tagged and to come to your space and read the post so they know what to do.

    Weird computer things...

I just noticed some strange habits of mine when working / playing on the computer. What are your thoughts about it? Is this all really weird or do have the same or other weird or strange habits? I'm wondering...

    1. Ok.. so I have a mousepad. It's considered to be the playing ground for my mouse. It's upside down and sideways, not corresponding with the dimensions of my monitor, know what I mean? It's supposed to lay on my desk with the longer side on the bottom *and* not upside down.

    2. Webcam mistrusts. After I log of from Yahoo Messenger I tend to turn it kinda sideways, away from me, althought the 'Camera on' light went off. Guess this is something like uhmm... 'how does one know when the light in the fridge goes off when we close the door'.

It kinda struck me and I just had to ask. Anny comments about this (Saying I'm weird does not count as a comment) :-)

    English vs international

Guess yall know I'm from Holland. That means Dutch is my native tongue. So why do I like to talk in English? Guess it's something like second nature? A kiss is a kus, and a hug is a 'knuffel'. Have a great Sunday all...

    Smokin'

Ok. As from July 1st in Holland there's a law that forbids *smokers* to light their coffin nails in bars, restaurants, and other public places. Smoking at work was banned about 3 years ago. I don't like that - me being a smoker - but in a way I can understand. I mean if I was a non smoker I would not like the fact going home after a working day smelling like a full ashtray.

But... (and usually after the word 'but' there's nothing else than BS) now hear this. In our 'coffeeshops' the smoking of tobacco is banned too. So in effect this means that it's ok to smoke pure pot, as long as it's not mixed with tobacco. I don't know but I think that's weird. Does that make it more healthier smoking a joint with no tobacco in it? I don't smoke that kind of stuff, but I was just wondering about that. Oh well, our governement works in wicked ways I think.
    6/21/2008

    Fontsize (lol)

Hmm ok. Guess the size of the font I choosed to use on here was a little small after all. I cheched things here and I was using the 'eggstra' small font. So I decided to upgrade to small now. Just taking little steps at a time, you know? Spaces is just like real life, one doesn't want to change things to fast, yannow? ;-)

I don't have any real plans for the weekend. Guess it's about time to sweep and mop here. I know.. I have an exciting life. LOL. Have a great weekend and hope to hear from you all soon. Stay cool as a cucumber now, ya hear?

When you're using a big font when you blog...

I couldn't help but notice some of my friends are using *bigger* font styles when they put something new on their space. That made me wonder. Why is that? Maybe it's because of the HIGH resolution on the monitor their using? This post made them mist up their glasses? I don't know. So the bottom line question is... Is the fontsize you're using on here is small, normal, big, bigger or huge? I know.. questions questions questions...

    Have a great day, Yall

    Fathers Day

    It's Fathers Day.

Kenneth has been with me this weekend and that made me feel good. That and some other things. ;-) I got up around 9 *something* this morning and made dinner in advance for the both of us. A 'chop things up and throw everything in a big pan' kinda meal. Red HOT Spicey chilly, so all I have to do to make dinner tonight is just cook some rice and warm the chilly, put things seperately in two bowls and we're ready to eat.

I'm going to my father today, after all the topic of this blog post is 'Fathers day', right? I called him this morning and he told me the drinkies were in the fridge. So I'll go there later this afternoon and thank him for being my dad for almost 50 years now. 50 years, wow. Time sure goes fast. I have a vague rememberance of my birth. I saw a bright light at the end of a tunnel... next thing I know I got a slap on my ass. They made me cry. ;-). People who know me a little better will know where this all came from. LOL.

    Have a great day.
